Indian Youth Arrested in Triple Homicide in South Plainfield in New Jersey

SOUTH PLAINFIELD, NJ – USA-November 29, 2023: In a tragic incident that unfolded on November 27, 2023, a South Plainfield man, identified as Om Brahmbhatt, has been arrested and charged in connection with a fatal shooting on Coppola Drive. The Middlesex County Prosecutor, Yolanda Ciccone, and Chief Peter Papa of the South Plainfield Police Department made the announcement.
Authorities responded to a residence on Coppola Drive at approximately 9:00 A.M. following reports of shots fired. Upon arrival, officers discovered three victims: Dilipkumar Brahmbhatt, 72, and Bindu Brahmbhatt, 72, both of South Plainfield, and Yashkumar Brahmbhatt, 38. Sadly, Dilipkumar and Bindu Brahmbhatt succumbed to gunshot wounds at the scene, while Yashkumar Brahmbhatt, who sustained multiple gunshot wounds, was transported to the hospital but later pronounced deceased.
Detective Thomas Rutter of the South Plainfield Police Department and Detective Javier Morillo of the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office spearheaded an investigation that quickly determined there was no threat to the public, and the incident was not a random act of violence. The alleged perpetrator, Om Brahmbhatt, 23, resided with the victims and was present at the scene when authorities arrived.
Om Brahmbhatt was arrested without incident on November 27, 2023, and has been charged with three counts of first-degree murder and three counts of second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose. He is currently held at the Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center pending a Pre-Trial detention hearing.
