Hubballi: Yediyurappa Requests Dingaleshwar Swamiji Not to Contest
Hubballi: Former Chief Minister BS Yediyurappa has once again requested Fakira Dingaleshwar Swamiji not to run as an independent candidate from the Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency.
Speaking to reporters at the airport here on Monday, Yediyurappa said the people of the Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency support BJP candidate Pralhad Joshi. He stated that Joshi would be reelected from this seat based on the development works he has undertaken in the constituency. Yediyurappa emphasized that the Swamiji himself should not venture to contest against the gentleman politician, Joshi.
Yediyurappa mentioned that he has already spoken to Dingaleshwar Swamiji and assured that he would once again communicate with him to try to persuade him.
Dingaleshwar Swamiji had made an announcement of contesting the election following a meeting with seers from various mutts and devotees in Bengaluru. Swamiji voiced criticism against Union Minister Pralhad Joshi, alleging bias towards the Lingayat community and claiming that Joshi had unjustly treated the community. With his decision to enter the political fray as an independent candidate, the Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency may witness a triangular contest. The Congress party has fielded Vinod Asuti, while Pralhad Joshi is the BJP candidate.
