Hubballi: MLA Tenginkai Pitches Tourism Boost with Ambitious Heliport Plan
Bengaluru: Hubballi Central MLA Mahesh Tenginkai championed the potential of Nrupatunga Betta as a major tourist destination during the assembly session on Monday. He raised a starred question, specifically thanking Tourism Minister HK Patil for initiating an action plan for a zipway at the Betta. While details regarding the zipway’s end point remain unclear, earlier discussions proposed a connection between Unkal Lake and Nrupatunga Betta.
Tenginkai went further, advocating for Hubballi’s strategic positioning as a key tourism hub. He proposed the construction of a heliport to connect remote areas of Uttar Kannada district, major destinations in Goa, and parts of Maharashtra and Kalyan Karnataka regions, aiming to boost tourism potential.
He also highlighted the cultural significance of the historic Chandramouleshwar Temple in the city. While acknowledging existing facilities, Tenginkai emphasized the need for additional amenities and improvements. He urged the minister to consider creating a tourism corridor incorporating Nrupatunga Betta, Unkal Lake, the Chandramouleshwar Temple, and other vital tourist destinations within the city.
