Hubballi-Dharwad Shock: 79 Students Among 156 Test Positive for Drug Use
Hubballi: In a significant crackdown on the peddling and consumption of banned substances, the twin cities police continued their drive against the menace of drug use. On Sunday, they launched a special operation targeting habitual consumers of ganja (marijuana). As part of this effort, the police conducted tests on 354 individuals known for drug consumption at KIMS Hospital and DIMHANS in Dharwad. Shockingly, 79 students from Hubballi-Dharwad tested positive for drug use.
In total, 156 individuals tested positive for drug consumption during the operation. The police emphasized that Sunday’s drive specifically focused on students who consume drugs. As a result, 38 cases have been registered against the individuals involved. In addition, a counseling session was held at the Rambhapuri Kalyan Mantap, according to police sources.
The operation highlights the ongoing efforts by the authorities to combat drug use and raise awareness about its harmful effects, especially among young people.
