Government Deliberates on Hijab Ban, No Official Order Yet, says Siddaramaiah

Chief Minister Siddaramaiah clarified on Saturday that the Karnataka government has not issued any directive to lift the ban on wearing the hijab in educational institutions.

Responding to media reports claiming the removal of the hijab ban, Siddaramaiah stated that the government is considering the matter and will discuss it with government officials before making any decisions.

The ban, imposed by the previous BJP government, had sparked protests. While attending an event in Mysuru the day before, Siddaramaiah had mentioned that women are free to wear the hijab if they choose to do so, leading to speculation about a possible order to revoke the ban.
