Bengaluru: Following rumors that some of the sitting BJP MPs would not receive the party ticket to contest the upcoming Parliament Election, former CM DV Sadananda Gowda, who represented the Bengaluru North parliament constituency, announced his political retirement today in Hassan.

He was with the party leaders in Hassan and was part of the team deployed by the BJP to assess the prevailing drought situation in the state. After the visit, Sadananda Gowda spoke to the media and announced that he would not continue in politics.

Sadananda Gowda’s name had been circulating in political circles that he might not receive the party ticket, similar to how former CM Jagadish Shettar was denied the party ticket during the state assembly election.

Gowda said that he had enjoyed all the positions in the party and in power and was not expecting more. “The BJP has given me everything in the last 30 years,” he said, adding that he had decided not to continue in electoral politics.
