Elon Musk Explores Synergies Between OpenAI’s Sora and Tesla’s Full Self-Driving

Tesla CEO Elon Musk has acknowledged potential synergies between OpenAI’s Sora and Tesla’s Full Self-Driving (FSD) ambitions.

Musk revealed that Tesla has been capable of real-world video generation with accurate physics for about a year but noted the limited interest as the training data only comes from Tesla’s camera-equipped fleet. Musk mentioned the possibility of incorporating training data from other sources in the future when they have sufficient capacity. OpenAI’s Sora recently introduced a text-to-video model.

Musk’s insights came in response to a video comparing research papers from both companies, highlighting converging paths in video generation approaches. Meanwhile, Tesla has released FSD version 12.12 with significant improvements to self-driving software.
