Election Commission Announces Schedule for Bye-Elections in 26 Assembly Constituencies

New Delhi: The Election Commission of India (ECI) has unveiled the schedule for bye-elections to fill vacancies in 26 Assembly constituencies across several states, to be conducted alongside the General Election to Lok Sabha in 2024.

The vacancies in the following Assembly Constituencies have necessitated bye-elections:

Bihar:

  1. Agiaon (SC) – Vacant due to the disqualification of Manoj Manjil.

Gujarat:

  1. Vijapur – Vacant due to the resignation of Dr. C. J. Chavda.
  2. Khambhat – Vacant due to the resignation of Chiragkumar Arvindbhai Patel.
  3. Vaghodia – Vacant due to the resignation of Dharmendrasinh Ranubha Vaghela.
  4. Manavadar – Vacant due to the resignation of Arvindbhai Jinabhai Ladani.
  5. Porbandar – Vacant due to the resignation of Arjunbhai Devabhai Modhwadia.

Haryana:

  1. Karnal – Vacant due to the resignation of Manohar Lal.

Jharkhand:

  1. Gandey – Vacant due to the resignation of Dr. Sarfaraj Ahamad.

Maharashtra:

  1. Akola West – Vacant due to the demise of Govardhan Mangilal Sharma alias Lalaji.

Tripura:

  1. Ramnagar – Vacant due to the demise of Surajit Datta.

 

Uttar Pradesh:

  1. Dadraul – Vacant due to the demise of Manavendra Singh.
  2. Lucknow East – Vacant due to the demise of Sri Ashutosh Tandan ‘Gopal Ji’.
  3. Gainsari – Vacant due to the demise of Dr. Shiv Pratap Yadav.
  4. Duddhi (SC) – Vacant due to the disqualification of Ram Dular.

 

West Bengal:

  1. Bhagawangola – Vacant due to the demise of Idris Ali.

Telangana:

  1. Secunderabad Cantt. (SC) – Vacant due to the demise of Ms. Lasya Nanditha Sayanna.

Himachal Pradesh:

  1. Dharamshala – Vacant due to the disqualification of Sudhir Sharma.
  2. Lahaul & Spiti (ST) – Vacant due to the disqualification of Ravi Thakur.
  3. Sujanpur – Vacant due to the disqualification of Rajinder Rana.
  4. Barsar – Vacant due to the disqualification of Inder Dutt Lakhanpal.
  5. Gagret – Vacant due to the disqualification of Chaitanya Sharma.
  6. Kutlehar – Vacant due to the disqualification of Devinder Kumar (Bhutto).

Rajasthan:

  1. Bagidora (ST) – Vacant due to the resignation of Mahendra Jeet Singh Malviya.

Karnataka:

  1. Shorapur (ST) – Vacant due to the demise of Raja Venkatappa Naik.

Tamil Nadu:

  1. Vilavancode – Vacant due to the resignation of S. Vijayadharani.
  2. Tirukkoyilur – Vacant due to the disqualification of Dr. K Ponmudy.

The Election Commission’s announcement sets the stage for bye-elections in these constituencies, which will be conducted alongside the Lok Sabha elections, 2024.
