Hubballi: Doctors at Shri Balaji Hospital in the city have successfully performed surgery to remove a massive 450-gram tumor from the brain of a 37-year-old woman who was suffering from a brain tumor.

The woman, a native of Haveri, was admitted to the hospital with complaints of headaches, vomiting, seizures, and blurred vision. Dr. Kranthi Kiran, Chairman of the hospital and a renowned neurosurgeon, conducted a thorough examination and an MRI scan revealed a large tumor in the woman’s brain. Promptly acting on the findings, a team of doctors at the hospital performed a skillful surgery using advanced technology for five continuous hours, successfully removing the 450-gram tumor.

Speaking about the case, Dr. Kranthi Kiran explained that the average weight of an adult human brain is around 1,200 grams (1.2 kg). The woman had developed a massive 450-gram tumor in her brain, which, if left untreated, could have been life-threatening. Due to the timely intervention and use of modern technology and advanced skills, the complex surgery was successfully carried out without causing any damage to the patient’s brain.

He further explained that there is no single definitive cause for brain tumors. Tumors are formed when brain cells grow abnormally and accumulate in one area. Symptoms like persistent headaches, dizziness, nausea, changes in vision, speech difficulties, memory impairment, hearing problems, seizures, and loss of control over limbs should be immediately checked, and treatment should be sought to prevent life-threatening complications.

The patient is currently recovering gradually, with her headaches gone, vision clarity restored, and improvements in hearing and speech. She was recently discharged from the hospital and has returned home.

The surgical team included Dr. Kranthi Kiran, Dr. Iti Singh Parmar, Dr. Akhilesh Joshi, Dr. Bhimashankar, and other medical staff of the hospital.
