Dharwad: Informing dates of marriage, and other events is mandatory: DC Divya Prabhu
Dharwad: Deputy Commissioner, Divya Prabhu, who is also the district election officer has issued a directive aimed at ensuring compliance with electoral regulations during the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
With the model code of conduct firmly in place, Divya Prabhu emphasized the need for meticulous observance, particularly regarding events held at public venues such as Kalyan Mantaps and community halls.
She said organizers of gatherings, including weddings and birthday celebrations, are required to notify the respective taluka tahsildar of the event dates without exception. This measure is intended to facilitate oversight and uphold transparency throughout the election period.
She underscored the vigilance of election officials, who will closely monitor activities at these venues to prevent any breaches of the model code of conduct. Any infractions will be met with stringent consequences, as Divya Prabhu emphasized the importance of upholding the integrity of such events and ensuring they remain apolitical.
Furthermore, owners of the aforementioned venues are mandated to inform district election officers of event details via email. This step aims to streamline communication and accountability between event organizers and electoral authorities.
In addition to venue regulations, Prabhu issued a stern admonition to printing press proprietors, urging them to refrain from producing any promotional materials—such as handbills, banners, or pamphlets—unless they include comprehensive information, including the name, date, and specifics of the printed content. Compliance with these requirements is essential to prevent the dissemination of unauthorized campaign materials.
