Bengaluru: An 84-year-old man, who was suffering from multiple serious health conditions, passed away at a private hospital in Whitefield, Bengaluru. Health officials confirmed on Saturday that he had tested positive for COVID-19.

The patient had been admitted to the hospital on May 13 and unfortunately died on May 17. His COVID-19 test, conducted while he was still alive, returned a positive result only after his death, officials stated.

The Karnataka Health Department reported a total of 38 new COVID-19 cases across the state, with Bengaluru accounting for 32 of them.

In light of the rising case numbers, Karnataka Health Minister Dinesh Gundu Rao addressed the public earlier on Saturday, urging people not to panic. He advised citizens to remain calm and continue with their regular routines while staying vigilant.
