Congress CEC Meeting Tomorrow: First Candidate List Expected
New Delhi: The Congress party’s Central Election Committee (CEC) is scheduled to convene its inaugural meeting on Thursday, March 7, with the primary aim of finalizing the initial list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha election.
The significant gathering will witness the presence of AICC chief Mallikarjun Kharge, Sonia Gandhi, Wayanad MP Rahul Gandhi – presently engaged in the Bharat Jodo Nyay Yatra – and other CEC members.
In Karnataka, party in charge Randeep Surjewala recently conducted a meeting with key party leaders, including Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy Chief Minister DK Shivakumar. Sources indicate that singular names for 18 constituencies in Karnataka have been forwarded to the AICC. The leaders are expected to engage in detailed discussions, potentially announcing the same list or making modifications following a comprehensive meeting.
Rumors suggest that Congress leaders are poised to unveil candidates for some prominent positions. Speculations indicate that Sonia Gandhi’s daughter, Priyanka Gandhi Vadra, is likely to contest from Raebareli, while her brother, Rahul Gandhi, is expected to vie for seats in Amethi and Wayanad once again.
In contrast, the BJP has already released its initial list of candidates on Saturday, declaring nominees for 195 seats. As the political landscape unfolds, all eyes are now on the Congress party’s CEC meeting, eagerly anticipating the unveiling of their candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections.
