In the aftermath of the violent outburst at the Agricultural Produce Market Committee (APMC) in Byadagi on Monday, 80 individuals have been apprehended. The incident unfolded as a protest by farmers escalated due to a sudden decline in the price of dry chili. Seven vehicles, including five cars, one cleaning van, one jeep, four bikes, and one fire truck, were set ablaze during the unrest.

Sources report that the majority of those arrested are farmers from Andhra Pradesh. The agitating mob, in the course of the violence, not only targeted vehicles but also ransacked shops belonging to traders. Numerous individuals, including Superintendent of Police Anshukumar, sustained injuries during the chaotic events.

There are speculations that the incident may be a preplanned conspiracy aimed at tarnishing the market’s reputation. The APMC in Byadagi is renowned for its trade in dry chili and holds a distinguished status globally.

The violence has raised concerns about the impact on the market’s image, given its well-established reputation in the world of dry chili trade. Authorities are actively working to address the situation and restore normalcy in the region. The police have registered four FIRs in connection with Monday’s violence.
