BJP’s Dr. K Madhavi Latha to Contest against Owaisi for Hyderabad Lok Sabha Seat
Hyderabad: In a significant development, Dr. K Madhavi Latha, the Chairperson of Virinchi Hospital, has been nominated as the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) candidate for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections from Hyderabad seat. Dr. Latha is set to challenge All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) candidate, and possibly the incumbent MP, Asaduddin Owaisi.
The AIMIM has maintained a stronghold on the Hyderabad seat since 1984, making this electoral battle a notable one. Dr. Madhavi Latha, known for her recent prominence through interviews on YouTube channels, has been selected as the BJP’s candidate for this crucial constituency.
Apart from her role as the Chairperson of Virinchi Hospital, Dr. Madhavi Latha is also the founder of the Lopamudra Charitable Trust, a non-profit organization dedicated to providing healthcare, education, and livelihood programs to the underprivileged in Hyderabad.
Dr. Latha’s nomination holds particular significance as she is the sole female candidate among the nine announced by the BJP from Telangana. This marks the first instance of the BJP fielding a woman from the Hyderabad constituency, a region traditionally considered as Owaisi’s bastion.
The upcoming election in Hyderabad is anticipated to witness a fierce contest, with Dr. K Madhavi Latha aiming to break the longstanding dominance of AIMIM in the region. As the BJP seeks to make inroads into this stronghold, political observers are keenly watching this battle unfold.
Telangana sees three sitting MPs and two BRS turncoats nominated. Union Minister G. Kishan Reddy aims for re-election from Secunderabad, while Bandi Sanjay Kumar contests again from Karimnagar. Dharampuri Arvind, who defeated K. Chandrasekhar Rao’s daughter in 2019, retains his candidacy. Former BRS MPs Eatala Rajender and Pothuganti Ramulu join BJP ranks and secure nominations. Konda Vishweshwar Reddy returns to contest from Chevella.
