Belagavi Woman Naked Parade Incident: Police Makes 12 Arrests, Lovers Seek Police Protection

Belagavi: In a distressing incident, a couple who had eloped from the Hosavantamuri village in Belagavi district on Sunday night sought protection from the police. The young lovers, belonging to the same community, took this step after the girl’s family decided to arrange her marriage against her wishes.

Upon learning about the proposed marriage, the girl and her boyfriend decided to elope. In retaliation, the girl’s family members raided the boy’s house, where they not only ransacked the premises but also subjected the boy’s mother to a horrifying ordeal. She was stripped naked, paraded in public, and brutally thrashed before being tied to an electric pole.

The young couple, appearing before the police commissioner on Tuesday night, revealed that their love had become the target of opposition, particularly from the girl’s family, who posed a serious threat to their lives. Fearing for their safety, they requested police intervention and protection.

In response to the assault on the victim’s family, law enforcement authorities have taken swift action. Twelve individuals, including two minors, have been apprehended in connection with the brutal attack. As of now, all adult suspects are in judicial custody, awaiting further legal proceedings.
