Davangere: If you are someone who often give lifts to strangers flagged down while on your bike or in your car, then this story is a must-read.

In a recent incident, a person was extorted a sum of Rs 58,500 by unknown miscreants. The victim, motorbike rider had stopped to offer a lift to an individual and became a victim of robbery.

The incident took place at Batagaranahalli cross in Jagaluru taluk, Davangere, where the main suspect flagged down a motorbike, pretending to need a lift. Subsequently, three more individuals joined the main suspect, forcibly pulling the rider into a nearby forest and extorted Rs 58,500. The victim is Nagesh, a resident of Rampur village in Molakalmuru taluk, Chitradurga district.

On November 6, around 6 pm, Nagesh was on his way back to Jagaluru from Jyothipur after collecting rental payments for agricultural machinery. An unidentified individual approached him, requesting a ride. However, as soon as the motorbike came to a stop, three more individuals suddenly appeared, forcibly taking Nagesh into the forest, snatching the money, and swiftly fleeing the scene, as detailed in the official complaint. The Jagaluru police have registered a case, and in search of nabbing the accused.
