Australian Cricketer Mitchell Marsh Flies Home in the Middle of World Cup Campaign
Australian cricket star Mitchell Marsh has returned to Australia due to a family matter, as reported by The Guardian. Marsh departed late last night but assured his teammates that he intends to rejoin the World Cup campaign in India to participate in the remaining matches.
This development follows another incident involving star all-rounder Glenn Maxwell, who suffered a concussion after falling off a golf cart in a typical “boys will be boys” scenario. As a result, the Australian team finds itself without both of its explosive all-rounders as they prepare to face England in Ahmedabad this Saturday.
However, Marcus Stoinis, a close friend of both Marsh and Maxwell, has provided encouraging information regarding their potential return to the tournament in India, which still has approximately two and a half weeks remaining.
Stoinis addressed the situation by saying, “Mitch has flown home late last night, he’s dealing with a family issue, and family takes precedence. He’s taking the right steps by going home to be with his family, and there’s no fixed timeline for his return. However, he’s committed to coming back and winning the World Cup, as he communicated last night. That speaks to his determination.”
Regarding Maxwell, who is expected to recover from his golf cart incident and return for the match against Afghanistan on Tuesday, Stoinis commented, “Yes, it’s an unfortunate incident. It was a typical boys’ situation, and it happened. Unfortunately, I didn’t witness the fall from the cart, so I can’t comment on that aspect. But I saw him yesterday, and he’s in good spirits, exhibiting his usual Glenn Maxwell energy. I can’t provide medical details, but I’m optimistic that he’ll be back very soon.”
