Assam CM Critiques Congress Manifesto: Is it Meant for Pakistan Elections?

Guwahati: Assam’s Chief Minister, Himanta Biswa Sarma, didn’t hold back as he criticized the Congress party’s manifesto, suggesting it seemed tailored for an election in Pakistan rather than in India.

“It’s as if Congress is drafting a manifesto for a Pakistani election, not one here in India,” he quipped to the press.

Sarma accused Congress of adopting a divide-and-rule strategy, alleging their manifesto is rife with appeasement politics.

“Regardless of religion, nobody in our country wants to see the return of Triple Talaq, endorse child marriages, or support polygamy. Yet, these are the focal points of Congress’s manifesto,” he asserted.

Contrary to Congress’s approach, Sarma emphasized BJP’s focus on developmental politics nationwide.

“We’re committed to uplifting women in Assam. Our goal is to empower at least 30 lakh women to become ‘Lakhpati Didis’ (millionaire sisters) in the state,” he declared during a rally in Jorhat.

Sarma’s remarks followed his earlier skepticism about whether Congress’s manifesto for the Lok Sabha polls was influenced by foreign interests.
