Hubballi, June 9: In a tragic road accident near Nalavadi under the Hubballi Rural Police Station limits on Monday, a woman lost her life on the spot while her husband sustained serious injuries. The couple’s car reportedly rammed into a stationary truck in poor visibility caused by heavy rain.
The deceased has been identified as Shabana Jalil Ahmed, 32, while the injured husband, Jalil Ahmed, 36, is currently receiving treatment at the KMCRI Hospital Hubballi, according to the sources. Both are residents of Annigeri. According to DySP (Rural), Jalil Ahmed works in Delhi and was visiting his hometown on leave.
Locals reported that the couple had gone shopping in Hubballi and were on their way back home when the accident occurred. Their Maruti Brezza car was completely mangled in the crash. Preliminary reports suggest that the driver may not have seen the parked truck due to low visibility caused by the heavy downpour.
Hubballi Rural Police have registered a case and initiated an investigation into the incident.
