Bengaluru: The southwest monsoon continues to remain subdued across most parts of Karnataka, with only isolated areas receiving moderate showers. The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a yellow alert for six districts in the coastal and Malnad regions, where rainfall activity has seen a slight uptick.
According to weather officials, Uttara Kannada, Dakshina Kannada, Udupi, Chikkamagaluru, Kodagu, and Shivamogga districts are expected to experience moderate rainfall, prompting the alert.
Meanwhile, the northern interior parts of the state are likely to continue facing dry weather conditions. Districts such as Yadgir, Vijayapura, Raichur, Koppal, Kalaburagi, and Bidar are expected to remain largely rain-free over the coming days.
In contrast, light to moderate rainfall is anticipated in central and southern districts including Vijayanagara, Tumakuru, Ramanagara, Mysuru, Mandya, Hassan, Davanagere, Chikkaballapur, Chamarajanagar, Bengaluru Rural, and Bengaluru Urban.
Parts of northwestern Karnataka—particularly Haveri, Gadag, Dharwad, and Belagavi—may receive light showers, though no major weather activity is forecast.
Weather authorities are closely monitoring the monsoon’s progress and have urged residents in the alerted districts to stay updated with local advisories.
