Amazon-owned audiobook and podcast division Audible is cutting over 100 employees, constituting 5% of its workforce, as part of broader job cuts at Amazon.

This follows layoffs at Twitch, Prime Video, and MGM Studios earlier this week. Audible CEO Bob Corrigan, in an internal memo, explained that these measures were taken to position the company for success amid a challenging landscape.

The layoffs spared Audible’s content teams, ensuring a focus on delivering high-quality audio storytelling. Despite a strong year in 2023, the move aligns with Amazon’s strategy to operate more efficiently.

Amazon, which acquired Audible in 2008 for about $300 million, is concurrently reducing staff at Prime Video and MGM Studios, emphasizing a shift in investments. Twitch is also reportedly laying off 35% of its workforce.
