21 MLAs, 4 MLCs to be Appointed to Boards; No Cabinet Expansion Chance for Legislators.
Bengaluru: In a significant move, the Congress government in the state of Karnataka has ultimately decided to nominate MLAs to serve on various boards and corporations. Sources reveal that a total of 21 MLAs and four MLCs are slated to be appointed to different boards.
Randeep Surjewala, the Congress party’s Karnataka In-Charge, personally contacted the MLAs, seeking their opinions on the specific boards and corporations they would be assigned to. It has been communicated that a condition was presented to the MLAs: they would not be considered for future cabinet expansions, and their consent was sought on this matter.
Sources indicate that priority was accorded to senior MLAs who have been elected three to four times.
