Youth Dies in Dharwad Hit-and-Run; Police Apprehend Accused Driver

Hubballi: The police in the twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad have successfully solved a hit-and-run case that occurred on August 7. The incident, which led to the death of a bike rider, took place near the old DSP Circle in Dharwad.

According to Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar, the victim, Rohit Jagadish Kumbar, a 20-year-old student, a resident of Madihal, Dharwad, was crossing the road from Maratha Colony towards the Ice Factory when he was struck by a speeding Bolero at approximately 12:10 am. The driver of the Bolero fled the scene, leaving the injured victim behind.

Despite being rushed to the hospital, the young man succumbed to his injuries. The police later apprehended the driver, identified as Mahantesh Yallappa Kurade, a resident of Ramankoppa in Kundagol taluk. He has since been remanded to judicial custody.
