Wolves vs Chelsea: Wolves are still optimistic about making new additions to their squad before the transfer window closes on Friday. Manager Gary O’Neil has identified the team’s needs, but Sunday’s clash with Chelsea will provide a clearer picture of what Molineux is lacking.

Their pursuit of Dara O’Shea seems to have fallen through, with the defender on the verge of signing with Ipswich. Wolves have already shifted their focus and may now prioritize securing a winger to replace Pedro Neto, who recently joined Chelsea for £54 million. One potential target is 19-year-old Burnley winger Luca Koleosho.

Wolves’ interest in Brentford’s Yoane Wissa was turned down, making Koleosho an appealing option. He fits the club’s preference for young, cost-effective players with potential resale value.

Interestingly, Burnley will be visiting Molineux for a Carabao Cup match on Wednesday, but the immediate focus for Wolves is on their upcoming Premier League game against Chelsea. Neto, who recently moved to Stamford Bridge, will be returning to face his former club.

Wolves completed a league double over Chelsea last season, highlighted by Matheus Cunha’s hat-trick in West London. With Chelsea currently in what O’Neil describes as a “transition” phase, Wolves are hopeful they can continue their strong form against the Blues. Notably, since Wolves’ return to the Premier League in 2018, Chelsea have managed to win just three of their 12 encounters.
