Hubballi: In two separate incidents of online fraud, a city resident lost ₹4.35 lakh after being duped into buying an imported iPhone, while another victim lost ₹2.50 lakh through a fraudulent KYC update scheme.

iPhone Scam: ₹4.35 Lakh Fraud
A youth from Hubballi, identified as Kalakuntla John Simon, was scammed of ₹4.35 lakh by fraudsters who advertised the sale of imported iPhones at discounted prices. The culprits, identified as Shivank Agarwal and Lakshmi, engaged with Simon through Instagram. They claimed to be selling an iPhone 16 Pro Max for ₹1.03 lakh and convinced him to transfer ₹4,35,548 to their account, promising to deliver the phone. When the phone never arrived, Simon filed a complaint with the CEN Crime Police Station, where a case has been registered.

KYC Fraud: ₹2.50 Lakh Stolen
In another incident, a woman from Hubballi, identified as Rashmi, lost ₹2.50 lakh to fraudsters who tricked her into updating her KYC (Know Your Customer) details. The scammers contacted her, claiming the KYC update was mandatory. They sent her an APK file link and instructed her to click it. The moment she did, the money was transferred from her account. Rashmi has lodged a complaint with the CEN Crime Police Station, and an investigation is underway.
