In downtown Fort Worth, Texas, a hotel explosion, possibly triggered by a gas leak, resulted in injuries to 21 individuals, scattering heavy debris across a city block and prompting the evacuation of nearby employees on Monday afternoon.

The incident occurred at the Sandman Signature Hotel around 3:30 p.m. local time, with one person in critical condition.

While a gas leak was identified as a contributing factor, authorities couldn’t immediately confirm its role in the explosion. The explosion’s origin, potentially linked to restaurant construction, remains uncertain.

Emergency responders rescued individuals from the hotel’s basement, and 14 were transported to nearby hospitals. Firefighters later sifted through debris strewn across the street, comprised of window fragments and exterior parts. An investigation into the cause is ongoing.
