USA: Man and Teen Injured in Chicago Afternoon Shooting
Chicago(USA): A shooting incident on Friday afternoon left a man and a teenage boy wounded in the busy Near North Side area.
At around 4:43 p.m., police reported that a 16-year-old boy and a 23-year-old man were approached by an individual who drew a handgun and shot both of them.
Both victims sustained gunshot wounds to their arms and were transported to Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where they are in stable condition.
Authorities cordoned off the crime scene at the intersection, with shell casings and evidence markers scattered on the street.
Later, officers were seen at the intersection of Roosevelt Road and State Street, following reports that a suspect might have fled on a southbound Chicago Transit Authority Red Line train. A person of interest was subsequently taken to Belmont Area Headquarters for questioning.
The shooting occurred near the intersection of Chicago and Wabash avenues, where notable landmarks include a Chick-Fil-A in Loyola University’s Corboy Law Center on the northwest corner, the 1882 Victorian Gothic Hotel St. Benedict Flats on the northeast corner, Pippin’s Tavern in The Bernardin Apartments high-rise on the southeast corner, and the Bishop Quarter House next to Holy Name Cathedral on the southwest corner.
This intersection is just a short walk from the Magnificent Mile and the historic Chicago Water Tower.
