US Elections: Max Kennedy, brother of Robert F. Kennedy Jr., has urged the public to disregard his sibling’s recent decision to withdraw from the 2024 presidential race and endorse Donald Trump. In an op-ed for the *Los Angeles Times*, Max expressed his dismay, calling Trump “the kind of arrogant, entitled bully” his father, the late Robert F. Kennedy, opposed before his assassination in 1968.
Max predicted that his father would have supported Vice President Kamala Harris in the upcoming election due to her commitment to decency, equality, and justice. He lamented, “I’m heartbroken over my brother Bobby’s endorsement of Donald Trump,” emphasizing that Robert F. Kennedy’s life was dedicated to enhancing the safety and happiness of Americans.
Robert F. Kennedy Jr. announced his campaign suspension on Thursday, later joining Trump at a rally in Arizona. Despite facing numerous legal challenges, Trump secured the Republican nomination. Kennedy intends to remain on ballots in certain states while stepping down in swing states to aid Trump’s bid.
Max criticized his brother’s endorsement as “inconceivable,” particularly given that he had previously sought a position in Harris’s administration. He also highlighted the stark contrasts between their father’s legacy and Trump’s policies, particularly regarding racism, environmental issues, and the rule of law.
Max concluded with a heartfelt plea for Americans to support Harris and the Democratic platform, stating, “With a heavy heart, I am today asking my fellow Americans to do what will honor our father the most.”
