Birmingham-UK- Forty-six men have been charged following a violent incident involving Legia Warsaw supporters outside Villa Park in Birmingham during a Europa Conference League match.

West Midlands police reported that five officers, two police dogs, and two horses were injured when visiting fans threw missiles.

Charges include public order offenses, assaulting police officers, and possession of a knife. Most of the accused, aged 21 to 63, are believed to be from Poland, with a few UK residents, said sources.

A special court at Birmingham magistrates has been set up for the cases. CCTV and body-worn video footage are being reviewed to identify additional suspects.

Two West Midlands police officers, two from West Mercia, and one from Derbyshire police sustained minor injuries. West Midlands mayor Andy Street called for strong action from European football authorities, praising the police and condemning the “deeply unpleasant scenes.”

Legia Warsaw fans were barred from the stadium after the initial violence. The investigation continues, with gratitude expressed for support from the club and fans present during the incident.
