Byadagi APMC, known for its chili trade, turned into a battleground following a sudden dip in chili prices. An agitated mob set three vehicles on fire, including one belonging to a senior police officer and fire fighter vehicle.

The protesters also threw stones at chili traders’ shops, prompting the implementation of Section 144 in the area. According to the latest report, the situation is now under control.

Farmers initiated the agitation after chili prices experienced a sudden drop, reaching as low as Rs 10,000 per quintal. Traders noted that the price of good-quality chili, which was one week ago was Rs 35,000 per quintal, has now dropped to Rs 15,000 per quintal.
