Trump’s Plane Diverted to Billings Due to Mechanical Issue Ahead of Montana Rally
Former U.S. President Donald Trump’s plane was diverted to Billings on Friday due to a mechanical issue, as reported by CBS News, citing airport officials. The technical problem, details of which remain unclear, occurred just before Trump was scheduled to hold a rally in Bozeman, Montana.
Trump’s private aircraft landed safely at Billings-Logan International Airport on Friday afternoon, according to a statement from the airport. Bozeman, the rally’s intended location, is approximately 150 miles west of Billings. Trump continued his journey to Bozeman on a different private plane, as confirmed by CBS News.
The rally, set to start at 8 p.m. local time, marks Trump’s first of the week. His political opponents, including Governor Tim Walz, Vice President Kamala Harris, and running mate Senator JD Vance, have been campaigning across key battleground states.
This visit to Montana aims to support Republican Senate candidate Tim Sheehy in his race against incumbent Democratic Senator Jon Tester, who is seeking re-election in November. Montana, traditionally considered a Republican stronghold since Bill Clinton’s victory in 1992, is seen as a crucial state for the GOP.
Trump, who announced his bid to return to the White House in November 2022, hopes to become only the second U.S. president to win two non-consecutive terms following his defeat in the 2020 election.
