Taylor Swift Crowned Time’s Person of the Year: A Fusion of Art and Commerce
Taylor Swift has been named Time Magazine’s Person of the Year, following her recognition as the most-played artist on Spotify.
Among the nine finalists, including Barbie, King Charles III, and OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, Swift emerged as a cultural force. Describing her selection, Time emphasized how Swift, at 33, achieved a unique fusion of art and commerce, generating historic energy.
Her notable achievements in 2022 include the immensely popular Eras Tour and concert movie, the release of the reimagined ‘1989’ album, and her high-profile relationship with Kansas City Chiefs tight end Travis Kelce. Despite her decades-long popularity, Swift continues to dominate the cultural landscape and was chosen for her outstanding contributions in the past year. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy was named Time’s 2022 Person of the Year.
