Seoul: South Korean Opposition leader Lee Jae-myung was stabbed on the left side of his neck during a visit to Busan.

The incident occurred during a Q&A session with reporters after touring a construction site. Lee, chairman of the Democratic Party, was transferred to Pusan National University Hospital while conscious but bleeding.

The attacker, posing as a supporter, approached for an autograph and used an unidentified weapon. The suspect was arrested on the scene.

President Yoon Suk Yeol expressed deep concern, ordering authorities to swiftly investigate and ensure Lee’s prompt hospitalization. Yoon condemned the violence, emphasizing it should never be tolerated.
