Belagavi: MP Mangala Suresh Angadi said she went to meet party leaders in New Delhi because the party high command had not announced a candidate for the Belagavi Lok Sabha seat in the second list of candidates for the upcoming Lok Sabha election. But returned to Belagavi, as the party high command finalised the name of Jagadish Shettar.

“As I went there (Delhi), I came to know that the party has finalized the name of Jagadish Shettar for the constituency, hence I did not meet the party high command and returned to Belagavi,” she said.

Speaking to reporters, the first-time MP from Belagavi, Mangala said Shettar initially was not keen to contest from Belagavi, but there was pressure on him to contest from this seat. “He is a senior leader, former CM, and relative. I am happy and will campaign for him,” she said.”
