Opening up for the first time since India’s loss in the Men’s ODI World Cup final, Captain Rohit Sharma acknowledged the challenge of moving on from the defeat. Reflecting on the match at Narendra Modi Stadium on November 19, where India fell short in the middle overs, Rohit expressed the disappointment of missing the ultimate prize and ending the ten-year drought for a global trophy.

In a video shared on the ‘Team45ro’ Instagram account, Rohit admitted, “I had no idea how to come back after the final. My family and friends kept me going. It was hard to digest, but life needs to move on, and honestly, it was tough to move on from that day.”

Post-tournament, Rohit sought solace in the United Kingdom with his family to overcome the sadness. He appreciated the fans for their massive support and acknowledged the difficulty of transitioning after the final. Despite disappointment, he found healing in the pride expressed by fans and their understanding of the team’s emotions.

Rohit expressed gratitude, saying, “For me to see people coming up to me, telling me they were proud of the team, made me feel good. It gives you motivation to get back and start working again and look for another ultimate prize.”

Looking ahead, Rohit is set to return to action in India’s Test series against South Africa in late December and early January. This marks India’s second series in the 2023-2025 World Test Championship cycle, with Rohit hoping to make amends after missing the 2021-2022 series in South Africa due to injury.
