Road Rage Turn Deadly: 28-Year Old Beaten to Death in front of His Family
Mumbai: A 28-year-old man was fatally beaten by a group of men following a dispute over an autorickshaw accident in Mumbai’s Malad area on Saturday.
The deceased has been identified as Akash Maeen, he was a worker for the Maharashtra Navnirman Sena, was with his parents when the altercation occurred.
According to Dindoshi Police, the incident unfolded near Pushpa Park in the evening when an autorickshaw collided with Akash’s car while attempting to overtake. The confrontation escalated, leading the auto driver to flee the scene. A crowd that had gathered in support of the auto driver then turned violent, attacking Akash.
Disturbing video footage shows Akash being brutally assaulted by a mob as his father struggled to intervene. In a desperate effort to shield him, Akash’s mother laid over his body to protect him from further blows.
“Maeen sustained severe injuries from the beating and was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries. Based on CCTV footage, six suspects were arrested on Sunday, and three more on Monday,” an official stated, as per reports from PTI. The suspects have been charged under the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita for murder and related offences.
All nine individuals are now in police custody, with their remand set until October 22.
