RG Kar Trainee Doctor’s Murder: Sanjay Roy’s Polygraph Test Stalls Over Consent
Doctors nationwide have decided to maintain their indefinite strike in response to the alleged rape and murder of a trainee doctor at Kolkata’s RG Kar Medical College and Hospital, continuing their protests on Wednesday.
The medical professionals at RG Kar announced that they will persist with their strike until the Supreme Court delivers its verdict on Thursday. In addition, they are planning a protest march from RG Kar to Sashthya Bhawan on the same day.
In a related development, former RG Kar principal Sandip Ghosh appeared before the CBI for questioning on Wednesday. The agency has indicated that his responses have been inconsistent throughout the interrogation process.
Ghosh’s troubles have intensified as former Deputy Superintendent Akhtar Ali has accused him of bribery, trafficking in biomedical waste, and extorting students.
Meanwhile, the polygraph test for Sanjay Roy, the main suspect in the RG Kar rape and murder case, remains unresolved due to the need for his consent. No lawyer from the bar is willing to represent him, prompting the court to assign a legal aid attorney to take on his defense.
