Rajasthan Assembly Election, Voting Begins
As the high-voltage election campaign in Rajasthan comes to a close, the anticipation among the people is palpable as they gear up to cast their votes in the upcoming assembly elections on Saturday. The polling will be conducted in 199 out of 200 constituencies, lasting from 7 am to 6 pm. The crucial task of counting the votes is scheduled for December 3.
However, the election in Sriganganagar’s Karanpur seat has been adjourned due to the unfortunate demise of the Congress candidate, Gurmeet Singh Koonar, who also held the position of the sitting MLA.
A substantial number of 5,26,90,146 voters will play a pivotal role in determining the fate of 1,875 candidates, including 183 female contestants. The polling will be conducted across 51,507 stations in the assembly constituencies.
One of the key battlegrounds is Sardarpura, where Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot has been victorious since 1998. This time, the Bharatiya Janata Party has fielded Mahendra Singh Rathore in an attempt to challenge the Congress stronghold.
In Udaipur, a BJP stronghold since 2003, the electoral competition will unfold between Tarachand Jain and Congress’ Gourav Vallabh, a well-known national spokesperson for the party.
Jhotwara constituency will witness a face-off between former Union Minister Rajyavardhan Rathore from the BJP and Congress’ Abhishek Choudhary.
Adding to the electoral dynamics, the Bharatiya Janata Party’s candidate and former Chief Minister Vasundhara Raje is contesting from Jhalarapatan. Meanwhile, the Deputy Chief Minister of Rajasthan, Sachin Pilot, will be pitted against BJP’s Ajit Singh Mehta.
Notably, approximately 45 rebel candidates from both political parties, including current and former MLAs, as well as party officials, are in the electoral fray. The political landscape is set for a compelling showdown as the people of Rajasthan prepare to exercise their democratic right in this crucial assembly election. Stay tuned for the results that will shape the future of the state.
