Senior Congress leader Rahul Gandhi is set to launch the Bharat Nyay Yatra, a significant journey covering 6,200 km from Manipur to Mumbai, spanning 14 states and 85 districts. Scheduled to commence on January 14 and conclude on March 20, the yatra aims to connect the North East to the West of India, strategically timed ahead of the anticipated Lok Sabha elections in May 2024.

The decision to embark on this yatra follows the Congress Working Committee’s recommendation during a meeting. Congress leader KC Venugopal stated that Rahul Gandhi, respecting the committee’s opinion, opted to undertake the East-West journey.

The yatra, flagged off by Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge in Imphal, will traverse through Manipur, Nagaland, Assam, Meghalaya, West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Odisha, Chhattisgarh, Uttar Pradesh, Madhya Pradesh, Rajasthan, and Gujarat before concluding in Maharashtra. The route includes a mix of bus rides and foot marches.

According to NDTV, the Nyay Yatra, meaning “rally for justice,” aims to advocate for economic, social, and political justice for the country’s people. The choice to start in Manipur is attributed to the party’s intention to begin the healing process for the local population.

This yatra is considered the second phase of Rahul Gandhi’s north-south Bharat Jodo Yatra from the previous year, credited by the party for election victories in two southern states. Congress leader Venugopal emphasized that the yatra is designed to engage with youth, women, and marginalized communities.
