In Mexico‘s Guerrero state, three journalists and two relatives were abducted by armed men, highlighting the country’s perilous conditions for journalists.

News reports stated that the abductions occurred in Taxco, known for its silver artisanry and colonial architecture but marred by drug cartel violence. A local journalist, Marco Antonio Toledo, who had received threats earlier, is among the victims. Press freedom groups demand urgent action as drug cartels silence reporting, exacerbating the already dangerous environment for journalists in Mexico.
