Police Take MLA Tenginkai and Others Into Preventive Custody
Hubballi: BJP leaders and workers staged a protest in the city, demanding that the Old Hubballi riot case should not be withdrawn under any circumstances and that the case involving MLA Vinay Kulkarni be handed over to the CBI.
The protesters gathered at the Akshay Park Circle on Gokul Road and blocked the road in protest. They raised slogans accusing the state government and Chief Minister Siddaramaiah of appeasing minorities and expressed anger, stating that the Old Hubballi riot case should not be withdrawn at any cost.
Led by MLA Mahesh Tenginkai and District President Tippanna Majjagi, the protestors aimed to submit a memorandum to prevent the withdrawal of the riot case and to hand over the Vinay Kulkarni case to the CBI. However, when permission was denied, BJP leaders and workers attempted to gherao the CM’s car. At this time, the police detained BJP leaders, including MLAs Arvind Bellad, Mahesh Tenginkai, Santosh Chavan, BJP spokesperson Ravi Naik and other workers, and escorted them to the Old CAR Grounds in the city and were released later.
