Police Arrest Three for Damaging Girani Chawl School Compound in Hubballi
Hubballi, EXPRESS News: The Sub Urban police have arrested three individuals accused of damaging the compound wall of the century-old Government Higher Primary School in Girani Chawl on August 20.
Speaking to reporters on Thursday, Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar confirmed the arrest of the accused, who have been remanded to judicial custody. The suspects, identified as Kartik, Vivek, and Prashant, all in their early 20s and residents of Hubballi, have been charged under the Prevention of Damage to Public Property Act, 1984, along with relevant sections of the law.
The commissioner explained that the youths were learning to drive when they lost control of the car and crashed into the school’s compound wall, causing part of it to collapse. The investigation revealed that there was no conspiracy involved; the incident occurred due to the inexperience of the drivers.
The police have seized a Ford sedan believed to be involved in the incident. Sources indicated that parts of a damaged number plate found at the scene helped lead to the apprehension of the suspects.
