Hubballi: In a bid to control price hikes, the central government on Monday launched the “Direct Food Grain Distribution to Consumers” initiative in the Dharwad Lok Sabha.

On Monday morning at the Moorsavirmath Ground in Hubballi, Union Minister for Food Supplies and Consumer Affairs, Prahlad Joshi, flagged off the mobile vehicles carrying food grain stocks.

Addressing the gathering after distributing food grain kits to the public, he stated that the central government is committed to safeguarding the interests of farmers and the economically disadvantaged.

Minister Prahlad Joshi highlighted that, since Independence, this is the first historic step by the central government to control essential commodity prices in times of inflation.

He added that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the NDA government has undertaken the direct distribution of food grains to consumers across the country to alleviate the struggles of common people due to price hikes.

Distribution under the Bharat Brand is already underway in major cities like Delhi and Bengaluru, and now this has been extended to the twin cities of Hubballi-Dharwad.

Supply via Over 50 Mobile Vehicles: He informed that more than 50 vehicles are now distributing Bharat Brand food grains at reduced rates within the Hubballi-Dharwad twin cities and the Dharwad Lok Sabha constituency.

Price Details: Bharat rice is priced at ₹34 per kg, Bharat wheat flour at ₹30 per kg, Bharat gram (chana dal) at ₹70 per kg, and Bharat green gram (moong dal) at ₹107 per kg, all of which are distributed directly to the public at subsidized rates through mobile vehicles.

Protecting Farmers’ and Public Interests: He further remarked that Prime Minister Modi’s government is not only safeguarding farmers’ interests by offering support prices for agricultural products but is also ensuring the well-being of the public by providing affordable food grains across the country.

MLA Mahesh Tenginakai, city corporation members, and other dignitaries were present at the event.
