Niranjan Hiremath Demands CBI Probe, Claims Police Not Efficiently Probing
Hubballi: Niranjan Hiremath, father of Neha Hiremath, who tragically lost her life in Hubballi, Karnataka, is demanding a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) inquiry, alleging that the local police are trying to divert attention from the case.
As a Congress councillor of Hubballi-Dharwad Municipal Corporation, he is also calling for the transfer of the police commissioner overseeing the case, citing what he perceives as negligence. He asserts that despite providing names of suspects, no progress has been made, and he has lost faith in the current investigation. He emphasizes the need for CBI intervention, expressing disappointment in the handling of the case by local authorities.

In response to Hiremath’s concerns, Amit Malviya, head of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) IT cell, criticizes the Congress government in Karnataka for what he sees as a lack of urgency in addressing the issue. He highlights the absence of Congress leaders visiting the grieving family and accuses the government of sluggishness and appeasement politics. Malviya implies that justice for Neha may be compromised due to political factors.
The tragic murder of Neha Hiremath by her former classmate Fayaz Khondunaik has ignited a political debate, with the BJP characterizing it as a case of “love jihad,” a claim rejected by the Congress. Calls for severe punishment for the accused have led to protests across Karnataka.
