NATO has urged a thorough investigation into reported election irregularities in Georgia, NATO spokesperson Farah Dakhllalah announced on Monday. Dakhllalah emphasized the need for a full examination of these allegations to ensure election integrity and restore public trust.

Sharing the message on X (formerly Twitter), Dakhllalah highlighted concerns raised by the International Election Observation Mission, which reported an “uneven playing field” in the Georgian elections. These findings, according to Dakhllalah, have cast doubts on the public’s confidence in the election outcome.

On Sunday, Georgia’s Central Election Commission (CEC) concluded its count of all ballots. The ruling party, Georgian Dream, secured 53.92% of the votes, while four opposition parties combined received 37.78%. However, representatives from the opposition parties, as well as Georgian President Salome Zourabichvili, have expressed skepticism regarding the results. President Zourabichvili has publicly stated her refusal to accept the CEC’s results and has called for public demonstrations in response.

This development has amplified calls for transparency and accountability, with NATO pressing for a comprehensive inquiry into the reported discrepancies to ensure fair democratic practices in Georgia.
