Nagamangala: Violence During Ganesha Immerseion Procession, 52 Accused Sent to JC

Mandya: A Nagamangala court has remanded 52 accused to 14 days of judicial custody in connection with the violence erupted during Ganesha immersion procession, said a report.  Following the court’s decision, the accused were shifted to Mandya District Jail.

Tensions flared in Nagamangala town, Mandya district, on Wednesday night, leading to the imposition of prohibitory orders after stone pelting incidents during a Ganesha idol immersion procession resulted in injuries, including a police officer. The violence occurred near a dargah on Mysuru Road, prompting police to resort to lathi charge in order to disperse the crowd and restore order.

FSL Experts Begin Investigation

Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) experts visited the riot site to conduct a detailed investigation. Along with the police, they inspected burned shops and collected essential evidence for further analysis. The experts gathered critical details to aid in the case investigation.

IGP Leads March to Restore Order

In a bid to restore peace in Nagamangala, Inspector General of Police (IGP) Boralingaiah led a peace march through key areas of the town.

Following the unrest, senior officials, including the Superintendent of Police (SP) and the District Commissioner (DC), rushed to the scene, dispersing the crowds with a lathi charge. Section 144 has been imposed in the area until Saturday to prevent further escalation.

Minister Zameer Reacts

Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan reacted to the incident, he said this is an unfortunate incident, but the BJP is politicising this issue to score political points.
