Murder for Insurance: Man Kills Uncle with Friends’ Help to Settle Debt
Davangere: People often purchase life insurance to provide financial security for their families in case of sudden danger to their lives. However, in a shocking turn of events, a man killed his own uncle to claim life insurance money in his name. The police cracked the case within 24 hours and arrested the accused.
This incident came to light in Davangere city. The victim, 32-year-old Duggesh of Imam Nagar, was murdered by his nephew, Ganesh (24), who worked as a fruit vendor and auto driver. Ganesh was assisted in the crime by his friends Anil (18), Shivakumar (25), and Maruti (24), all of whom have been apprehended by the Azad Nagar police for murder.
**Background of the Crime**: Duggesh’s brother, Gopi, had borrowed INR 1 lakh from the accused, Ganesh, as a loan with interest. Gopi then left town without repaying the loan. Since Duggesh and Gopi were close, Ganesh demanded Duggesh settle the debt. In a desperate attempt to recover the money, Ganesh devised a deadly plan. He took out a life insurance policy in Duggesh’s name and, with the help of his friends, planned to kill Duggesh and claim the insurance money.
Ganesh believed that, as a heavy drinker, Duggesh might not live long. Together with his friends, he devised a plot to claim the insurance money after Duggesh’s death. Following this plan, the accused murdered Duggesh, as revealed in the police investigation.
