Mothers, Lovers and a Ransom Call- How Dharwad Police Rescued 6 Kidnapped Children
Dharwad: The Vidyagiri Police in Dharwad have successfully solved a perplexing kidnapping case involving six children abducted by their mothers and their respective lovers. All accused have been arrested, and the children were rescued unharmed.
The Case Unfolds
Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar detailed the case, initially reported as a “missing persons” incident on November 7 at the Vidyagiri Police Station. Deepak, the father of three of the children, filed a complaint stating that three of his children, his three nephews, his wife and his sister-in-law had disappeared from their home near the Toll Naka area in Dharwad.
Investigation and Rescue
Two special teams were formed to investigate the case. Searches were conducted in Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Goa, and parts of Maharashtra. A critical tip-off led the police to the Hebbal area of Bengaluru, where the children and women were eventually located.
During the investigation, Deepak received a ransom call from the accused including two male accomplices, his wife and sister-in-law, demanding ₹10 lakhs and threatening harm to the children. Acting swiftly on the complaint, the police tracked the suspects to Bengaluru, arrested them, and rescued the children.
Accused Individuals
The arrested individuals include:
– Muthuraj, a resident of Shikaripura, currently residing in Dharwad.
– Sunil Kumar Siddaramappa Karigar, a resident of Jamadar Galli, Dharwad.
– Rashmi Sambrani, Deepak’s wife and a resident of Jannat Nagar, Dharwad.
– Priyanka Sambrani, Deepak’s sister-in-law, also from Jannat Nagar, Dharwad.
The Conspiracy
Rashmi and Priyanka, each with three children aged between 3 and 10 years, were reportedly in relationships with Muthuraj and Sunil Kumar, respectively. Married to brothers Deepak and Santosh (the latter deceased), the women conspired with their lovers to abduct their children. The ransom money was intended to fund their plans for a new life.
The six rescued children—Krishna, Suraj, Sinchana, Sanvi, Satvik, and Manvit—are now safe, thanks to the coordinated efforts of the police teams.
Police Commissioner N. Shashi Kumar praised the swift and effective work of the investigative teams, including DCPs Mahaning Nandagavi and Ravish C.R., ACP Prashant Siddangoudar, Inspector Sangamesh Didignal, and Town Inspector N.C. Kadadevarmath, for ensuring the safety of the children and bringing the culprits to justice.
