Mohammed Shami Honored with Arjuna Award for Cricket Excellence
New Delhi, January 9, 2024: Renowned cricketer Mohammed Shami was bestowed with the prestigious Arjuna Award for his outstanding contributions to the field of cricket. The award was presented by the President of India, Droupadi Murmu, during the Sports and Adventure Awards 2023 ceremony held at Rashtrapati Bhavan today.
The Arjuna Award is a fitting recognition of Shami’s exceptional skills, consistent performance, and significant impact on the sport of cricket. Known for his prowess as a fast bowler, Shami has been a vital asset to the Indian cricket team, showcasing remarkable talent and dedication throughout his career.
He was the highest wicket-taker in the recently concluded prestigious ICC Men’s ODI Cricket World Cup and won millions of hearts with his bowling skills.
The Sports and Adventure Awards 2023 ceremony also saw the presentation of various other accolades, including the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Awards-2023, Dronacharya Awards-2023, Dhyan Chand Awards-2023, Tenzing Norgay National Adventure Awards-2022, Rashtriya Khel Protsahan Puruskar-2023, and Maulana Abul Kalam Azad Trophy-2023.
