In a surprising turn of events, Karnataka cricket team captain Mayank Agarwal has been admitted to a hospital in Agartala after falling ill on a flight headed to New Delhi. The incident occurred on Tuesday, January 30, when Agarwal, along with the Karnataka team, was en route to the capital city from Tripura.

According to reports, Agarwal consumed a beverage onboard the flight, which led to him experiencing uneasiness and a burning sensation in his throat. Subsequently, he began vomiting, prompting the authorities to deboard him immediately and rush him to a local hospital in Agartala.

The cricketer’s health scare raised eyebrows in the cricket fraternity, as Mayank Agarwal lodged an official police complaint, suspecting foul play. The incident occurred just before the scheduled takeoff of the New Delhi-bound flight, and Agarwal attributed his condition to drinking from a pouch he believed contained water. The pouch had been placed on his seat while he was traveling with IndiGo airlines.

In his formal complaint, Mayank Agarwal’s manager detailed the incident, stating that there was a pouch in front of the cricketer during the flight. Agarwal consumed a small amount from the pouch, resulting in immediate irritation in his mouth, rendering him unable to speak. He was then swiftly taken to ILS Hospital, where he was diagnosed with swelling and ulcers in the mouth.

Providing additional insights, a top police official commented, “His manager said that when he was sitting in the airplane, there was a pouch in front of him. He drank a little bit, not much, but suddenly there was irritation in his mouth, and suddenly he couldn’t talk also and was brought to ILS hospital. He had swelling and ulcers in the mouth. Otherwise, his vitals are stable.”

Officials said that Mayank Agarwal’s complaint had been registered, and an investigation would be conducted to determine the cause of the incident.

ILS Hospital said in a press release, Mayank Agarwal was “experiencing some oral irritation and swelling on his lips.” After an emergency assessment by hospital consultants, Agarwal was admitted and is currently in stable condition, undergoing continuous clinical monitoring.
